Product overview

KG-2 and KG-3 give excellent rust protection on low-, medium- and high-carbon steels and on alloy steels containing manganese, vanadium, chromium and molybdenum. KG-2 is deep brown; KG-3 is light yellow.

KG-3 is suitable for steel, cast iron and copper, with a flash point of 61–68 °C and an 18–24 hour salt-spray reference on No. 45 steel. See the KG-3 page for application details.

Key benefits

  • KG-3: 1 year unpackaged; 3–5 years with plastic-bag packing
  • Dense, thin film once the solvent evaporates
  • KG-3 stays light yellow and resists yellowing
  • Dip, spray or brush; dipping is the most economical and reliable method

Typical applications

  • Low-, medium- and high-carbon steel parts
  • Alloy steel parts (Mn, V, Cr, Mo)
  • Steel, cast iron and copper parts across industries

How to use

  • Parts must be clean and free of water before treatment.
  • Let surplus oil drain and the film dry completely before packing.
  • Do not spin-dry, do not apply with a rag, and do not oil parts hotter than 40 °C.
KG-3 values apply to KG-3 only; confirm KG-2 specifications separately. Protection periods depend on application, packaging and storage.
